SDRCC 24 hour endurance Race Provisional Rules:
25/08/09 21:32
1. No more than 10 people / cars per team. Each chassis entered by a team must be checked and approved prior to the race. No other car must be raced during the 24 hours of the event other than the ones nominated / checked.
2. Marshalls cannot service ANY car whilst at his/her post. All cars must be serviced in the pit area only or away from the track area. No running allowed during the whole 24 hours. Each team must pit in the covered areas provided.
3. Each team must provide a marshal at all times, if a team does not follow this requirement, the race director can issue a 20 lap penalty to the team. This may be strictly enforced so you should comply! Each marshal will stand at the teams number marshal point.
4. Only one transponder per team - club units are not available, a personal unit will have to be used and transferred between cars at services. No cloned PT's will be allowed. It is each teams responsibility to check that the track timing equipment is registering the transponder. We will have a wireless network running so this can be checked in the pits.
5. Each team may use as many different cars as they wish however only one shell is allowed per team and it must show the dedicated number on the front windscreen. Numbers will be issued after all teams have booked in.
6. Each car must comply with BRCA pro-stock rules. The race director can request any car be taken from the track at any time and checked for compliance. However the race director will only be able to do this for a maximum 5 minute period per check and cannot check a team more than 6 times in the 24 hours. There is no reason to expect that all teams will be checked the same number of times so no complaints will be heard if you are checked more than another team.
7. Each team will be limited to 8 sets of tyres - 8 x 4 stickers will be issued to all teams. A sticker must be positioned on the inside rim of each tyre. It is up to each team how they want to use tyres, be it 8 sets of slicks, or 6 sets of slicks and 2 sets of wets etc. etc. No wet race will be declared, you can use any of your tyres at any time, they can be of any compound or make you like. Note, due to the number of sets allowed, if you break a wheel, it is tough, you will not be allowed to replace it (i.e. get another sticker). All wheel sets must be marked prior to the start of the race.
8. The track used will be track 4. This is the biggest layout available. Cars coming off should use the slip road between the 19T loop and the rostrum hairpin. Cars going back on must start from this area which will be defined for the event. Each team must use a table at the front of the pit tents to swap transponder and body shell on. Both cars must be on this table at the change overtime.
9. The total laps completed for each team will be noted down as often as possible. In the unlikely event of the timing equipment failing, as soon as the system is noted to have failed (no one will be watching the equipment permanently) all cars should follow the track layout back to the pits where they can be removed for servicing if required. The race will be restarted under the direction of race control.
10. In the event of the lights failing, all cars must stop immediately wherever they are on the track. You may continue racing as soon as the lighting has been re-instated - you do not have to wait for instruction to carry on. If you want to service the car during this "lights out period", you can collect it from its position on the track but you are only allowed to return the car to the track from the pit area. Any car collectors should be aware that they need to get off the track as soon as the lights come on and be aware of moving vehicles at race speeds. In the event of a longer duration "lights out" period, the director will let the teams know and then the race will be restarted under direction of race control rather than just when the lights come back on.
11. The 24 hours is 24 hours, if the lights fail for an hour, we will still finish at the same time, even if we have only had 23 hours racing.
12. In the event of severe weather, the director can decide to put the race on hold until the weather clears. The race will be restarted under direction of race control in these circumstances.
13. If Lipo batteries are used, a voltage cut out MUST be used, whether it be a separate unit or a function of the speed controller.
14. Entry fee is £20 per team with a minimum donation of £50 to the Archie Foundation. Note this is a minimum donation from the team members. It is also hoped that racers will seek sponsorship from friends and family on either a fixed value basis or on a pence per lap basis. All sponsorship money should be paid via justgiving.com as soon as possible after the race is completed. Sponsorship forms will be provided.
