| Racing Tip: | I’ve always got advice! – Best advice I can give would be one word – preparation. Get the car ready, know where and on what you are racing on, practice on a similar surface, and most importantly, get yourself ready before a race. An early night means sharpness the next day – that’s worth a lot of time. |
| About Yourself: | Started racing as soon as I swapped my spare ZX Spectrum for a Rough Rider. Used to take my brother’s 80cc motorbike, with the RR in a cardboard box bungeed on the pillion, up to Blairgowrie every Tues evening, rain or shine, just to go racing. Loved racing from the start. I’m car daft, and have watched F1 since Jackie Stewart won his 3rd championship. I started Dundee Radio Car Club (along with Stewart Little; not the mouse) way back in 1985 or 86. While working away from the North East, I’ve been lucky to have regularly raced at many of the countries best tracks. Eden Park (the original), Bury, Batley, Southport and West London. I’m married to Mary, whom I have known since we were teenagers, just took a while to convince her I was right. I’ve also raced occasionally at many of the rest of the tracks up and down Great Britain, and I would say Stonehaven is without equal. The track is superb, but the location it’s at, adds to the experience. Sometimes we take it for granted and expect more, but take a look at it for what it is, and appreciate it’s a fantastic track in a beautiful location. |
